That Will Be 'Sir Jean-Luc Picard'

For a Shakespearean trained actor* he sure has done a lot of Sci-Fi roles**. 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' is the most notable. He had a pretty major role in the movie 'Dune' as Gurney. Also, Professor Charles Xavier in the 'X-Men' movies.

And now Patrick Stewart is to be Knighted.

*Had to check to be sure but yes, he is a Shakespearean trained actor. With their English accents, they all sound like they can be classically trained actors.

**Not trying to disparage Sci-Fi either. It's a very underrated genre that most people don't give it the credit it deserves.

  1. Sci-fi is oft a very over-rated genre... Except Spider Man. He's my homeboy.

And Predator... "You are one ugly ------ ------." Fill in the blanks for extra credit.

  2. I can only appeal to the authority of a published author, Alan Dean Foster, who told me personally that Sci-Fi was a huge genre in the old Soviet Union. It was about the only form of media that wasn't heavily censored by the State. Part of the reason is that the authors would be use the backdrops of Sci-Fi to write against the Communist Party.

You obviously still haven't read Starship Troopers yet, have you.
