What Ever Happened To The "Pump Patrol"?

Gas in our area had just hit three dollars per gallon after a relative lull from last summer and fall. But I seem to remember watching the local news a few years ago and every night they would feature, "The Pump Patrol". Where someone would be the designated reporter to go out and find the cheapest price at the pump. This was all before Jan. 8, 2009. If I recall correctly.

I've yet to see that on my nightly news around the Richmond, VA area.

Maybe if it the price get's higher, the news will act.

Anyone else notice this?

  1. My first guess is the difference between Richmond and Lansing News. IT's sort of stupid thing to report because the 20 mile round trip to save 5 cents a gallon burns up all your savings in the trip. There are internet sites like gasbuddy.com to find the best prices nearby, which are a better tool. Charr the historical prices there and you'll see the precipitous fall was in the late summer early fall, pre-election.
