The best pull quote from the video?: "[The Department of Commerce is] nothing more than a hall closet where you throw in everything that you don't know what to do with."
I don't bite every apple Paul puts forward. For example, military spending cuts. While I could see a 30% cut, I would have to see a 50% cut in other areas first. Yes, mostly entitlements. I am glad to have him putting something forward though. And, if push comes to shove, of what is being proposed, he offers the best plan.
On the other hand, I am absolutely positive that no such plan, or any functional plan, will even come close to going through, regardless of how '12 elections come out. It would take decades of correct elections to eventually even things out, at which point we might find we are more capitalist but too crony capitalist. Are socialism and communism simply diseases produced from some population level, as with lemmings? Bah!
I know.. But it's so refreshing to see someone in Congress talk about issues that-- for whatever reason-- aren't brought up in Congress.. The CFLs for example. Bad legislation that caused jobs to move overseas, limited choices available on the free market and based on junk science.
There are things I disagree with Sen. Paul like there are things I disagree with Rep. Renee Ellmers or R.S. McCain (Which brings up another question. Why do so many conservatives quantify what they say when agreeing with someone with "I don't agree with everything that [whoever] says". That much should be obvious). Maybe I'm only wishcasting with Paul's budget plan. But it's taken the country over 50 years (at least) to reach this point. It's going to take more than a few elections to undo it.
