Top Ten Tasks The Secret Service Is Doing To Prepare For Joe Biden's Visit To The GOP Convention

Drudge has reports of the Secret Service doing advance work in the case that Joe Biden might try and crash the party, so to speak.
Of course, like all high ranking officials, the Secret Service needs to take precautions.

So may I present the
Top Ten Tasks the Secret Service needs to do in order to prepare Tampa for a visit from Joe Biden.

From the home office Scranton, PA.

10:  Re-naming the hotel restaurant 'Katie's Restaurant' so Joe won't get confused about where to eat.

9:  Baby Proofing the Presidential Suit where he's staying at.

8:  Removing the booze out of the refrigerator and replacing it with Prozac spiked apple juice.

7:  Recruit series of interns to stand by Joe's side to listen and nod politely while he's transcribing his memoirs, "The Adventures of Scranton Joe In The High Himalayas" (expect a high burn out rate, recruit as many as you can).

6:  Hire man to carry boom box in Joe's entourage.

5:  Make sure there's a ready supply of Depends.

4:  Secretly replace Viagra with blue Tic-Tacs (Jill Biden's special request).

3:  Have emergency topee and/or can of RonCo Spray Hair in case of emergency.

2:  Remind Joe that he won't need the rain poncho. It's not a Gallagher concert.

And the number one task  the Secret Service needs to do in order to prepare Tampa for a visit from Joe Biden:  Leave note by closet: Socks. THEN shoes.

They Told Me That If I Voted Republican For President That We Would Have An Idiot For A Vice President. And They Were Right.

Sure dodged a bullet with that Palin Chick, amiright?

THE VICE PRESIDENT: Hey, it’s good to be back with you all. I’ll tell you what. I want to thank General Colt for accompanying me up here. I get the honor of introducing the General.

I was back here on February 11th, to welcome home members of the 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team in Afghanistan — 155 of you got off that plane in the middle of the night, and the only thing that was more exciting than seeing you getting off is watching your families watch you all get off. So it’s an honor to be back here so soon.

Video of Biden's desire of voyeurism is found here. The clip is twelve minutes long and all that's needed was the first minute or so.

Florida Governor Rick Scott Became My Chris Christie Today Because Of This

Speak softly but carry big budget cutting scissors.

Gov. Rick Scott just announced that he has rejected federal money that would be used to build a high-speed rail line from Tampa to Orlando, saying the project would be “far too costly to taxpayers” and that he believes “the risk far outweighs the benefits.”

Even without getting into the "Green" aspect of trains, this would be a boondoggle.

First step would be planning. How many communities wouldn't want the rail to run through their back yard? The "Not In My Backyard" (NIMBY) effect.

Second, rights of way. Would the rail run along the same highway that connects Tampa Bay and Orlando or a different route? Not everyone who owns land or property along that pathway is going to want to move or sell. Some may claim 'Historic Landmark' and won't be able to move. Some will try to bilk the government out of more money than what their land is worth because they can.

Others will have their homes taken at the point of a gun simply because 'the rail needed to be made'.

Third, in order for the rail to be successful, people will need to pay to ride it. Orlando is a very large destination town anyway because of Disney World and other theme parks located there. How many people need to ride between Tampa and Orlando in order for a rail to make a profit and be successful?

There are already many alternative forms of transportation available for those who want to go to the parks. Many hotels offer daily bus rides to and from the parks (at least, last time I went they did five years ago. I can't imagine things would have changed that dramatically since then).

If a family is visiting Orlando and wants to visit Tampa and takes the rail, they will be at the mercy of whatever forms of transportation they can find in TB. And not the freedom of the open road.

And that is off the top of my head just for starters. Gov. Rick Scott has even more reasons listed.

What happens if it's unsuccessful? Does the train become scrapped or will laws and regulations be passed in order to force people to take the train? Installing toll booths on the highways that charge an unreasonable amount just to dive 5 or 55 minutes on the road in order to condition people in using the rail? Or subsidize the hell out of it with tax money?

A train can work if it was stationed between two large centralized populations with a lot of the population commuting back and forth. And if there was an easy way to get from home, to rail, to work and back again.

Anymore, "High Speed Rails" are just being built in order to build them and nothing more.

And because they are "Green" and that should be good enough, you planet haters! Shut up!

Joe "Scranton" Biden: Looking Out For The Little Guy

This video has been making the rounds. Joe Biden telling someone not to be "A Smart-ass". Videos of the event here and here and here and some background information here.

I do have an answer for Vice President Bite Me. No, the custard shop owner wasn't being a smart-ass. He was as serious as a brain aneurysm.

One Way Or Another, Health Care Is Going Down Our Throat.

I don't think this is exactly 'consent of the governed'.

By piggybacking the [Government Takeover of the Health Care System] legislation onto a budget bill, Democrats would be able to advance the bill with a simple majority of just 51 votes, averting a Republican filibuster in the Senate.

[. . .]they can use the aggressive and contentious tactic, known as reconciliation, to pass a far-reaching health care bill in the Senate without having to face the GOP. Democrats lost their ability to block filibusters when Massachusetts Republican Scott Brown won a Senate seat last month.

Reconciliation is the process of passing a bill in the Senate with a simple majority, 51 votes. The rules were changed a few years ago when the Democrats wanted a super majority (60 votes) in order to approve nominations for Federal Judges. For some reason, Democrats didn't want someone named Miguel Estrada nominated for a position on a circuit court. Seemed kind of racist to me at the time.

The scariest aspect of reconciliation? It could be all up to Joe Biden.

Be Stupid: Democrat Party Leadership

The fifth in a series of Diesel's new ad campaign that's aimed at today's working politician.

I finally found the link where I first saw the Diesel 'Be Stupid' ad campaign. Lori wrote about it over at News Real.

Shake Up In Delaware

The Nation is saved from a Biden legacy.

Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, son of Vice President Beau Biden, e-mailed supporters on Monday morning to say that he will not seek his father’s Senate seat, a blow to the Democratic Party.

Kennedy, Bush and the Clintons are enough of a 'legacy'. Joe Biden, of all people, doesn't need one.

I Think They Are Serious About This

Via Newsbusters and Mike from Twitter.

It's almost as if they are trying to convince themselves that it's true.

Although I almost ruined my keyboard when I first saw the cover.

This can be good news.

The more time he spends out of Washington, the better.

Joe Biden has never much cared for Washington in the socializing, living-there kind of way.

So, he and his wife, Jill, will be more like part-time residents of the brick Victorian vice presidential home at the Naval Observatory than Second Families before them, aides say.
