Video: Rand Paul On The Patriot Act

Rhetoric: It's the Democrat's best friend.

The president didn't even sign it into law in person.

President Obama, currently on an overseas trip doing a European pub crawl, is not at the White House to sign the bill, a requirement for the measure to become law.

So the White House will use an autopen –- a machine that replicates Obama’s signature -– to sign the extension, according to White House spokesman Nick Shapiro.

I retreat to my mantra on issues where I'm of two minds. Where the bill has its good uses but yet it can be twisted ever so slightly for bad uses as well. It's time to treat it like potato salad that has been sitting in the hot sun. When in doubt, throw it out.

Two part exit question: Is the autopen even Constitutional? And what's to stop us from voting in Zombie Reagan and using the autopen then?

Video: Sen. Rand Paul On John Stossel

The best pull quote from the video?: "[The Department of Commerce is] nothing more than a hall closet where you throw in everything that you don't know what to do with."

Sen. Rand Paul On The Budget

Slicing like a flat razor in an old fashioned barber shop.

He cuts through one of my biggest pet peeves when politicians and pundits deal with budgetary items. That a "cut' really isn't a cut at all but a slight promise not to spend 'as much as planned'.

Added: More red meat goodness. Rand Paul to Obama energy official: Why are you pro-choice on abortion but not on toilets and lightbulbs?

Sen. Rand Paul From The Late Show

Sen. Rand Paul made it to The Late Show the other day.

I think he held his own against Letterman. Letterman kept making the annoying claim about taxing the rich and Paul kept shooting it down. Keep in mind that Letterman is raking in 45 million a year when he talks about himself as 'middle class' toward the end of the clip.

The other part that I do like about the clip is how Sen. Paul isn't afraid to call the old Republican party what it was the past few years. Basically, Democrat Light.
