Michigan Moves To Kick Freeloaders Off Of Their Food Stamp Program

Via Drudge.

I don't know if this is something that students would riot over. Riots are more of a Michigan State thing and it was over booze. This is over food stamps.

Michigan has removed about 30,000 college students from its food stamp program — close to double the initial estimate — saving about $75 million a year, says Human Services Director Maura Corrigan.

Federal rules don't allow most college students to collect food stamps, but Michigan had created its own rules that made nearly all students eligible, said Brian Rooney, Corrigan's deputy director. As a result, the number of Michigan college students on this form of welfare made the state a national leader. For example, Michigan had 10 times the number of students on food stamps as either Illinois or California, Rooney said.

So It's Come To This: A Statue Of RoboCop In Detroit

Philidelphia has a statue of Rocky, an inspirational tale about an regular joe getting a chance to box the world champ and a shot at greatness.

Why not a statue of RoboCop for Detroit? A tale of a dytopic future where lawlessness rules the land and in the back pocket of a corrupt government.

Old movies can cast a nostalgic glow on just about any setting – even a struggling Rust Belt city such as Detroit.

That’s what a group of youthful idealists say they are hoping to do with a sculpture of, yes, Robocop – the hero of a 1980’s film of the same name in which a cop dies and is reborn as a cyborg in a dystopian Motor City.

A Real Doctor Chimes In On ObamaCare

The last minute or so is a campaign commercial for Dr. Rob Steele. NTTIAWWT. How else would you hear about how ObamaCare will affect physicians and doctors in the medical field?

ObamaCare really is about enslaving people's minds.

Related Enough: Renee Ellmers had a televised debate with Bob "Who are you?" Etheridge a few days ago.

I didn't see the entire debate but this was telling:

Like always:

Thanks to Laura.

Political Ads Done Right

Tip of the hat to The Other McCain for this.

Ladd Ehlinger Jr. certainly knows his craft.

Yes, the Don Dino is Even Sayet. Didn't realize it right away until Smitty made the connection.

For more about Ladd, Ace interviewed him here.

Steven Crowder In Detroit

And he made it out alive.

From last winter but it's new to me.

During my time there as a low voltage tech in Michigan, I had to install a replacement alarm system in a house where the original was stolen. Yes, it's that bad there.

So It's Come To This

Comparing the Border Patrol with the KKK.

Before she complains about Arizona, she should take a long walk down 8 Mile Road to see how Detroit has been ran into the ground.

They Said That If I Voted For John McCain, Thought Police Would Arrest People For Passing Out Literature That Offended Religious Fundamentalists

And they were right.*

Lebanon? Baghdad? Tehran? Nope. Dearborn, Michigan. AKA, Dearbornistan.

For more background on what happened, see here at Answering Muslims.

In cases like this, being forewarned is being forearmed. Know yours and the officer's rights so you know when he is starting to overreach. And memorize this: "Officer, am I being detained or am I free to go?" The missionaries in Dearborn where smart to have cameras recording. Don't ask me, ask Bob Etheridge.

I saw this a while ago and it's very appropriate for what happened in Dearborn. 10 Rules for Dealing With Police.

Below The Beltway has more on the 10 Rules On Dealing With The Police. I don't think Christian missionaries were the intended audience but it's worth watching for the education. Be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.

*I was going to use a variation of this title anyway but Smitty at The Other McCain linked to this. Who would have guessed that this title was at the number one spot?

The New Michigan College Plan

Step 1: Cruise through high school and barely pass.

Step 2: Take as many remedial classes freshman year of college.

Step 3: Sue the Michigan education system to help cover tuition.

ZZ Top Has A Duet With Jessica Simpson And I'm The Last To Know About This?

It's enjoyable but rather odd to watch.

I think Jessica is out of her niche here. She is, however, fun to watch. Reminds me of the line in a song by The Tractors. "She doesn't know what she's doing but she does her very best."

Anyway, to witness the uniting power of music, watch the next clip. The North, the South and Canada represented on one stage. In harmony. ZZ Top from Texas, Kid Rock from Michigan and Nickelback from Canada.

Linked
: Here by The Daily Gator. Trying to horn in on my Jessica Simpson rule 5 action, from the looks of it. It's my own fault for not doing enough Fox News Babes comparisons.

Elections Have Consequences, Part II

Goes to show what can happen when you elect someone who isn't a natural born citizen of the US into an Executive Office*.

Every day thousands of Americans vote with their feet on the best places to live and work, and these migration patterns can tell a lot about state economies -- and economic policies, says the Wall Street Journal. United Van Lines has released its annual report for 2009, based on those the moving company has relocated across one state line to another, and the winner is . . .

But first the biggest loser, which was Michigan for the fourth year in a row.

*I'm talking about Canadian born Jennifer Granholm. Who did you think I was talking about?

Democrats Dropping Like Flies

Sen. Chris Dodd and Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter are quitting at the end of their terms. I missed it on here but Sen. Byron Dorgan, ND is quitting as well.

In Michigan, thanks to term limits, Jennifer Granholm can't run for re-election but usually the Lt. Governor usually ends up running for the top spot on the ticket. The current Lt. Gov.-- John Cherry-- is dropping out. Some of the speculation is that the current Mayor of Lansing will be stepping in.

Virg Bernero left (and I do mean left). John Cherry right (coincidence only).

For some reason, Cherry can't excite enough people to raise campaign funds.

And this in Baltimore. Mayor Sheila Dixon is stepping down immediately due to a bad case of indigestion and an embezzlement conviction. But mostly her embezzlement conviction. But you wouldn't know she's a democrat from reading the report.
